Hume: Existence of God

Hume mentions God, and how we think of one as perfect. If I read correctly, it seems Hume is disproving god because the world is imprefect. This quality of the world is something god cannot posess, therefore he does not exist? The thought of a god, or the concept of a god is a useless matter according to Hume. I beleive he brings up a good point, we do not need a god, if there is no god present. Challenging this problem more, Hume argues that we can infer a whole lot, for example one footprint in the sand infers that a whole man walked this path, not just some random human foot. So what proof do we have to infer today that there is some infinite being or god out there? Certainly nothing appearing to me. Unless you take into the account of the world, it might have been created by god, its his work in progress, science could be running the earth, his own creation, until it collapses and it needs to be started all over agian. Is god running a puppet show via the world? David Hume, you confuse me.

You know I have never thought of God in that light. If we do not know certainly of a God, then what makes us thionk we need one? Thats a pretty intelligent point. It seems we are doing ok on our own, making society somewhat organized, and keeping the days passing with the structure that we have, we are making out alright. So what if there is no one up there playing God? would it really affect us either way?...

Haha. Yea it is confusing. what i started to think was that people have so many different visions of perfect, maybe one way of being perfect is something that is the median between two extremes..for example, moderation in our lives is strongly ecouraged for how humans eat, how much pleasure we have in our daily lives to prevent boredom or lack of appreciation for our advantages. if we use that kind of perfect to describe what "god" is, such as "god" being a loving yet wrathful god (of course humans give human qualities to everything in order to understand things better), then maybe there is a god, because the world is this type of perfection or "just about right" where there are from hurricanes and mortality to the natural instict for violence to beautiful landscapes. yea i hope that makes sense.
